Eugene F. Sheldon, a 50 year area resident, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Son of the late Joseph R. Sheldon and Anna Clark Sheldon, Eugene was born February 23, 1927 in New York, NY. He is the widower of Magdalen M. Chmielewski Sheldon.

Eugene was an Accountant with I.C.I. America in Bayonne, NJ and a former caretaker at St. Anastasia Church, Harriman, NY, He was a parishioner and lector at St. Anastasia Church. He was a former CYO Basketball Coach at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe and former Asst. Coach for M-W Little League. Eugene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II.

Survivors include his son, Mario E. Sheldon of Monroe, NY, brother Joseph Sheldon of Elmsford, NY, sisters, Margaret McCarthy of North Plainfield, NJ, Rosemarie Fisher of Monroe, NY, Patricia Crowe of Blauvelt, NY and one grandchild, Bradley T. Sheldon.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, Wednesday, March 10 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 11 at St. Anastasia Shrine Church, 21 North Main Street, Harriman. Interment will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery, Harriman.
