Dithard F. "Rich" Thomasberger an area resident for 55 years, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY at the age of 68. Son of the late Franz and Emilie Sedlak Thomasberger, he was born August 31, 1941 in Neu Oderburg, Czechoslovakia. He was the widower of Dorothy Johnson.

Rich was a self-employed carpenter and a veteran of the US Army.

Survivors include his son Gary J. Thomasberger and his wife Laura of Highland Mills, 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Devin & Trevor, brother Walter J. Thomasberger and his wife Jean of Chester, along with niece Nicole, nephew Brian and great nephew Brayden, and his loving companion Jean A. Edwards of Highland Mills.

A Family statement reads, "The family of Rich Thomasberger would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Tucker Center for Cancer Care, Orange Regional Medical Center, for their compassion and tender care during his final months and for their support of his family during his final days. A special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey M. Stewart, Kim Marion, PA, Dr. Dhiren B. Patel, Dr. Jennifer Wilken and Dr. Jane Kanowitz.

There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Patrick's Church, 448 Route 32, Highland Mills, NY. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
