Gwendolyn Rake Moore passed peacefully from this life on July 10, 2010 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She was born in Suffern, NY on September 20, 1929 to the late George R. and Gwendolyn Lloyd Rake.

After graduating from Monroe High School and Wesley College in Dover, DE, Gwen married the love of her life, Edwin C. "Moose" Moore, who predeceased her, and settled in Monroe, NY where they raised their children.

Gwen is survived by her children, Dr. Edwin C. "Skitch" Moore, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of North Palm Beach, FL, Warren H. Moore and his wife Anne of Given, WV and Gwenn Elaine Moore of Monroe, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Moore of Charleston, WV, Christopher Moore of Chicago, IL, Edwin C. Moore, III of North Palm Beach, FL, Julia Moore of Given, WV and her great grandsons, Edwin C. Moore, IV and Jayden W. Moore of North Palm Beach, FL. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Eleanor Grossarth and her husband Jules of Monroe, NY and her college roommate and dear friend Elsie Erath and her husband Eddie of Miller Place, NY.

Gwen worked as a bookkeeper, first for Drs. Hoffman and Margolis in Monroe, then for N.K.R. Precision Manufacturing in Harriman for thirty years, and finally for DeliQuik for her wonderful friend Bob.

Gwen's church was an important part of her life. She was a long time member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Highland Mills, NY where she served for many years on the vestry, as treasurer, lay reader and Sunday School teacher.

Gwen was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mombasha Fire Department for many years and volunteered at the Orange County Infirmary with her therapy dog, Petunia.

Gwen was a loving and devoted mother who supported and encouraged her children in all of their endeavors, serving as a den mother for her sons' boy scout troops and never missing a school play, concert or opportunity to chaperone a class field trip.

Gwen always had a kind word and a smile for everyone she met and will be lovingly remembered by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Gwen loved all animals, especially needy cats, and all animals loved her. To honor Gwen's memory, in lieu of flowers, her children ask that you make a donation to your local humane society or wildlife rescue fund and to truly honor her memory, always keep a sense of humor and do some kind deed every day, just as she always would.
