Emilia Jurik, a 25 year area resident passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at her home. Daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Hindak Haluzicky, she was born June 20, 1920 in Kirsovany, Czechoslovakia. Emilia was the widow of Stephan Jurik.

Survivors include her son John Jurik of Central Valley, daughters, Stephanie Washburn of Coventry, RI, Theresa Friedman of Monroe, Lillian Minutola of Harriman, Ellen Mandel of New Port Richey, FL, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.

A family statement reads, "Mom you left your mother & father in Czechoslovakia when you were 16 years old and never saw them again. You had 5 of us, 4 daughters and 1 son. You taught us everything you knew. We are so grateful for all the hard work and so much love you gave to all of us. We thank you for all your wisdom and most of all we thank you for your love. Your job here is done our dear mother, we will miss your sweet smile and your heart of gold. Your 11 granchildren and 12 great grandchildren will miss their Nanny and their Babka. Go in peace, it is time to be with your family in heaven now. This is not goodbye, we will all be together again. Until then, please watch over us. "A job well done Emily." You will be missed by all who had the pleasure and honor to know you."

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 22, 2010 at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Route 17M, Harriman. Interment will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery, Harriman.
