Earl F. Lynch, Jr., "Poppy", passed away at his home in Highland Mills, NY after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease on Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was 76 years old. Son of the late Earl and Margret McCarthy Lynch, he was born July 1, 1936 in Yonkers, NY. Earl was the widower of Barbara A. Peck Lynch.
Earl graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, joined the New York State Police in 1958 and retired as a Zone/Sergeant in 1980 serving most of his career at the Monroe, NY barracks. He was a member of the New York State Association of Former NY State Troopers, a member of The American Legion Post #779 in Highland Mills, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2079, Monroe, NY.
He is survived by his children and care givers, Earl Lynch III and his wife Migdalia "Margie" Lynch of Highland Mills, NY; Peter Callahan of Central Valley, NY, Kevin Lynch and his wife Ines of Highland Mills, NY; Patricia and her husband Steve Windsor of Culpepper, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Steven Windsor, Michelle Davis, Stephen and Taylor Callahan, Jessica and Kieran Lynch, Desiree, Connor and Sean Lynch, and his great grandchildren Haley Windsor and MacKenzie Davis. Earl was predeceased by his wife Barbara A. Lynch; his sister, Margret Lane, and his granddaughters, Deborah and Shealynne Lynch.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 7 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 515 Route 32, Highland Mills, NY. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 8 at St. Patrick's Church, 448 Route 32, Highland Mills. Interment will follow in Cemetery of The Highlands, Highland Mills, NY.
