Biography
Linda Montanye of Monroe passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. She was 63 years old and a lifetime resident of Monroe.
Linda was the daughter of the late Helen and Roy Lewis, and was born on September 19, 1948 in Goshen. Her husband of 42 years, Roy A. Montanye, Jr. predeceased her in 2010.
Linda graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School and worked many years at the Highland Telephone and successor companies. Linda was active in the Monroe Republican Committee and was a lifelong member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.
Linda was an extremely caring person who helped support many elderly family members who lived well into their 90's and beyond, family friends, as well as all of the stray animals that wandered into her yard. She loved her flower gardens, feeding the birds and deer. She was a wonderful photographer who spent hours trying to capture the perfect cardinal and bluebird pictures.
Linda is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Patricia Montanye and sister-in-law Clara Beach. She is also survived by her best friend and companion Ralph Surita, many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 26th in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of the Highlands, Highland Mills.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe Methodist Church, 47 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950.

On behalf of her classmates in the class of 1966 at Monroe-Woodbury Central High School, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Linda's family. We all will cherish our memories of Linda and will honor her at our 50-year reunion in 2016.
