Biography

Alice E. McDuffie, a sixty-five year resident of the area, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at her home in Mountain Lodge Park, NY. She was 87 years old. Daughter of the late Arthur and Edna Krakehl Duffy, she was born May 15, 1924 in Bronx, NY. Alice was the widow of Tommie H. McDuffie.

Alice was a retired bookkeeper with Rotarr Fashions of Newburgh, NY, she was a member of Mountain Lodge Park Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Blooming Grove Democratic Committee, and a member of Blooming Grove HUD Committee.

Survivors include her son Arthur G. McDuffie and his wife Debbie of Mountain Lodge Park, NY; her daughters: Barbara J. Kostro and her companion William of Westtown, NY, Kathleen A. Hirte and her husband Ronald of White Springs, NC; 8 grandchildren: Crysa, Michael, Christopher, Kayla, Kevin, Jill, Kellie, Ronnie and 5 great grandchildren: Cheyenne, Shelby, CJ, Hanna & Justin.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, January 27, with Ladies Auxiliary service at 7:00 PM at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 28 at Grace Episcopal Church, 1 Forest Avenue, Monroe with Rev. Elizabeth S. McWhorter officiating. Interment will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.

Many happy memories...New Year's Eve with the pickled herring at midnight. Just a special person. We were like an extended family. RIP Alice.
