Samuel Barash, former longtime Monroe resident, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Aventura, FL. He was 96. Son of the late Rudolph Barash and Lisa Solomon Barash, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 16, 1921.
Sam was a retired Chief of Construction and Appraisals for Veterans' Administration Affairs of NJ in Newark, NJ. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and was also the author of 10 books. He was a long-time member of the Monroe Temple of Liberal Judaism and Monroe Tennis Club.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Selma Silber Barash of Aventura, FL, his daughter Julia Barash and husband Arnold Resnick of Aventura, FL and 3 grandchildren, Vanessa, Dustin & Cassie.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY, with Rabbi Jesse Gallop officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh, NY.
