James F. Hintze, a lifelong resident of the Monroe-Woodbury area, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Wallkill, NY. He was 83 years old. James was born in Cornwall, NY on Halloween 1934 to the late Frederick and Margorie Hintze.
James retired from a 25-year career with the Village of Monroe DPW. He will be remembered for the simple things he loved to do: taking long drives, getting ice cream and watching fireworks, but also for his love for his family.
He married Lorraine F. (Kent) Hintze 59 years ago, she survives him at home. He is further survived by his brothers, Robert Hintze and Dick Tracy and thier children; and his children: James L. Hintze and his wife Stacy, Michael A. Hintze and his companion Julie Kaffenberger, Kevin L. Hintze and his wife Charlene, Christine J. O'Brien and her husband Keith. "PopPop" was the proud grandfather of Shayna, Mackenzie, Dylan, Victoria, Scott, Amanda, Megan, Courtney, Madison, Ava, and Kenny, and the great-grandfather of Olivia, as well as his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9th at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY. A Chapel Service will be held in the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening officiated by Rev. Joseph Tyrrell. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
