Obituary of Isaac Puthota
September 24, 1928-December 27, 2017
Isaac Puthota, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, of Harriman, NY passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 89 years old. He was born on September 24, 1928 to the late Showriah Puthota and Mariamma Gali in Kilacheri, India. He had an extensive and illustrious career as a teacher and principal of Roman Catholic Mission middle school, but the greatest accomplishment in his life was his loving marriage to the late Martha Puthota.
Isaac was a beloved member of St. Anastasia's parish. A unique soul, Isaac had a penchant for mischief and a wicked sense of humor. Foremost, Isaac had a particular fondness for neatness of appearance and well-combed hair. This was out of a heartfelt respect for those around him and his desire to always look his best for them. He had deep love for education and nurtured a passion for geography and the countries of the world - all of which he shared enthusiastically with his family, especially his grandchildren. Isaac is survived by his 4 sons: Rex Puthota and his wife Vijaya of Los Angeles, CA, Abraham Puthota and his wife Vimala of Harriman, NY, Father Charles Puthota Ph.D., of San Francisco, CA, and Nicholas Puthota and his wife Prema of Rockville Centre, NY; his daughters Mary Gomez and her husband Jimmy of Toronto, Canada, and Josephine Puthota and her husband Thomas of Londonderry, NH; his 14 grandchildren: Anita and her husband Ignatius, Martha, Archana, Uday, Aruna, Ralph, Andrew, Michelle, Jennifer, Katherine, Samuel, Anthony, Megan, and Mark; and his great-grandchildren Samantha and Susanna. He leaves too, a large extended family and devoted friends whom he adored.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 1st at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on January 2nd at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Route 17M, Harriman, NY 10926. Interment will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery, Harriman, NY.
