Ellen Teresa O'Boyle

Ellen Teresa O'Boyle (nee Flynn), formally of Monroe, NY entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, surrounded by her family, in Goshen, NY. Ellen was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland on December 28, 1933, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Flynn (nee Flynn).
The Flynn family relocated from County Mayo to County Meath, Ireland in 1941. She immigrated to England and then New York City, NY in 1953, where she worked for Bell Telephone and as a medical office assistant. While at Bell she met the love of her life John Francis O'Boyle. They were married in Queens, NY on April 27, 1956. They were blessed with a large, close knit family and together they raised five children, John, Michael, Hugh, Erin and Eileen.
Ellen was a homemaker, devoted mother and wife and a devout Catholic. Ellen was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe. She took great pride in her home on Cedar Cliff Road in Monroe where she resided for 47 years before moving to Narrowsburg and then Goshen NY. She was always at her best when surrounded by and entertaining family and friends. Ellen had a quick wit and charming personality, always carried herself with style and true grace.
Ellen was predeceased by her loving husband Jack of 33 years and her sisters Molly and Peg and brothers Peter, Jim, Tony and Harry. She is survived by her brother John (Joe) Flynn of Ireland, her son John and his wife Patricia of Monroe, NY, son Michael and his wife Suzanne of Jupiter, FL, son Hugh and his wife Veronique of France, daughter Erin and her husband Jerry of Narrowsburg, NY and daughter Eileen and her husband Karl of Fernandina Beach FL. She is survived by 11 grandchildren Michael, Katherine, Ian, Deirdra, Victor, Valentine, Pauline, Louise, Charlotte, Keane and Shane and one great grandchild Liam.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 11th at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 12th at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, NY. Interment will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery, Harriman, NY.
