Jacqueline A. Melnik of Washingtonville, NY passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, NY. She was 57 years old. Daughter of the late Joseph and Geraldine Polderdyke Melnik, she was born July 17, 1960 in Detroit, MI.
Jacqueline was a Business Systems Analyst with Pearson Education of Hoboken, NJ, a member of BPOE #1097 of Middletown, NY and a member of St. Anastasia Church of Harriman, NY.
Survivors include her son Matthew Hilliard and his girlfriend Angela Januzzi of Astoria, NY, her daughters, Lauren Hilliard of Raleigh, NC, and Emily Hilliard and her fiancé Anthony Caponero of Chester, NY; her husband Bob Hilliard of Bergenfield, NJ, her sister Julie McDonald and her husband Michael of Byron, MI, her brothers, Joseph Melnik II and his wife Esther of Cypress, TX, Eugene Melnik and his wife Julie of Pinckney, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
Jackie lived a fearless life of passion for new experiences, taking care of her dogs, exploring new foods, travel, and, above all else, love for her family. Her many hobbies included reading, quilting, computer science and cooking. Her outstanding work ethic and drive in all aspects of her life made her the amazing friend, sister, daughter, aunt, wife and mother that she was.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 26th at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. A Chapel Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27th. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
