Sister Isabelle McCann CSAC, a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate, Pallotines, passed away Thursday, January 24 2019 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Goshen, NY. Daughter of the late Lester and Mary T. Hynes McCann, she was born April 16, 1927 in Queens, NY. Sister is predeceased by four brothers; Joseph, David, Lester, and Anthony, and two sisters; Margaret Byrnes and Anna McCann. She is survived by twenty loving nieces and nephews.
Sister Isabelle McCann entered the Pallotine Sisters on February 2, 1953 and made her First Profession on September 1, 1955. Sister celebrated her Silver Jubilee in 1978, and he Golden Jubilee in 2003. Last year Sister celebrated 65 years in the Pallotine Congregation of Sisters, who thank God for Sister having been a part of their lives all these years.
She earned a BS in Secondary Education and MA in American History, from Fordham University in 1965. She taught in New York at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, in Bronx, NY, Harriman College in Monroe, NY and Holy Rosary Academy in Union City, NJ. Sister was Principal at Our Lady of Grace in Brooklyn, NY. She also served as Director of Admissions at Harriman College, NY from 1965 to 1970 and as the Congregation's Treasurer from 1991 to 2005 and a as a Delegate to both General and Provincial Chapters.
Sister retired in 2005 and resided at Queen of Apostles Convent, Monroe, NY until 2016 when she entered Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30th at Queen of Apostles Chapel, 98 Harriman Heights Road, Monroe NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31st. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Monroe, NY.
