Virginia M. McKeon

Virginia M. (Jean) McKeon passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her home in Monroe, NY. She was 91 years old. Virginia was born January 11, 1926 in Isabel, KS to the late Daniel and Ollie Williams. Her mother died when she was 3 ½ years old. She was raised by her father and two aunts. She attended High School at a private girl's school in Wichita, KS.

Upon graduation, she went to work at the Army Air Base in Pratt where she met her husband who was stationed there. After the war, they moved to his home state, Astoria, NY. They had six children, two boys and four girls.

Virginia worked for Blue Cross-Blue Shield for twenty years. After she and John retired, they moved to Florida where they lived until John passed away in 1999. Then she returned to Monroe, NY to be with her family.

She is survived by her children: Betty Malik, Peggy Karl (John), Terry Izzo (Bob), Michael McKeon (Barbara), and daughter-in-law Judy McKeon; seventeen grand children and their spouses, and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband John, Virginia was predeceased by her oldest son, Jack, oldest daughter Kathleen, her sister Ollie and son-in-law Stephan Malik.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12th at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13th at St. Anastasia Shrine Church, 21 N. Main Street, Harriman, NY. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, with a future burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.

Virginia was a partner in hope for St. Jude's for over 30 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38103.
