Obituary of Richard Lutz

Richard M. Lutz, Sr.

July 30, 1940-July 25, 2018

Richard M. Lutz, Sr. passed away on July 25, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center while surrounded by his closest loved ones, just five days shy of his 78th birthday.

Richard was born on July 30, 1940 in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan. He was one of eleven children born to Catherine (nee Brady) and Charles Lutz. Richard went on to proudly serve in the New York City Fire Department for 33 years at Engine Company 23 in Manhattan. He was a member of Orange County Retired Firefighters, Holy Name Society of F.D.N.Y., and St. Anastasia Church of Harriman, NY.

His survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Joan; his son, Richard, Jr.; his daughters, Karen Farley and husband Kevin, and Kristen Gove and husband Charles; his two grandchildren, his pride and joy, Connor and Ashlin Farley, all of Monroe, New York; brother, Thomas and wife Carol of Viera, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Kerry Anne Lutz; sisters Dorothy, Madeline, and Edith; and brothers John, Charles, Arthur, Hugh, and Leonard.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Petr Bezdicek of Goshen Medical Associates and Dr. Arvind G. Kamthan of Orange Regional Medical Group.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31st at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1st at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Route 17M, Harriman, NY. Interment will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery, Harriman, NY.
