Ronald P. Torpey, Sr.

July 21, 1936-October 2, 2018

South Blooming Grove, NY

Ronald P. Torpey, 82, of the Village of South Blooming Grove, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Son of the late Patrick and Bridget Browne Torpey, he was born July 21, 1936 in the Bronx, NY.

Ronald was an Engineering Supervisor with Johnson & Johnson of Ramsey, NJ and was a Disabled Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was the Chief of Fire Police in South Blooming Grove, a South Blooming Grove Village Board Member, a Boy Scout Master of Troop 316, and an Engineering Supervisor. He was an Amateur Radio Instructor/Examiner, a member of O.C. Amateur Radio Relay League, a member of Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service in the 911 Center, and a private pilot.

Ronald was a wonderful husband, father, and loving grandfather, son, brother, neighbor and friend to many. He was a loyal and dependable man with a strong work ethic. He will be missed dearly.

Ronald married Johanna Inzucchi in 1960 and was blessed with four children. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Johanna Torpey; his daughter Bridget Torpey and her partner Brett Wood, his sons: Ronald Torpey, Jr., and Patrick Torpey; his seven grandchildren: Christine and her partner Michael, Melissa and her husband Faustino, Jessica and her husband Brendan, Sarah and her husband Johnny, Heather, Patrick, Jr. and Nicholas; his eleven great grandchildren; sister-in-law Virginia Boatman and her husband Frankie. Ronald was predeceased by his daughter Julia DeFeo Torpey, and his sister Eileen Fagan.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 5th at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6th at St. Anastasia Shrine Church, 21 N. Main Street, Harriman, NY. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
