Joseph E. Everett, Jr. October 13, 1934 – April 15, 2020 Monroe, NY Joseph E. Everett, Jr., formerly of Monroe, NY passed away in Wilton, CT on April 15, 2020. He was 85 years old. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine A. Everett of Monroe, NY in 1997. Son of the late Joseph E. and Margaret Teggarty Everett, he was born on October 13, 1934 in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, MA. The eldest of six children, he was predeceased by his two sisters: Betsy Fitzgerald, of Boston, MA and Susan Cosgrove of Westwood, MA as well as his two brothers: Fredrick Everett of Sandwich, MA and Paul Everett of Dedham, MA. Joseph received a classical education in Greek and Latin from St Mary's College High school in northeast PA and attended the Mount Saint Alphonsus Seminary in Esopus, NY. He also obtained Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Philosophy and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston College in Newton, MA. He trained in clinical social work and psychiatric counseling at FDR Veterans' Hospital in Montrose, NY. He conducted a private practice in psychotherapy and, for over 30 years, served as a patient intake supervisor at the Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY. He is survived by his three children: Christine Everett and her husband Peter Pesce of Ridgefield, CT.; Monica Bevacqua and her husband Alex of Harriman, NY; and Joseph A. Everett and his wife Elizabeth of Flushing, NY. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth F. Everett of Naples, FL, as well as five grandchildren: Sofia, Chloe, Cassidy, Olivia and Maxton, and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at St. Anastasia Cemetery, and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. While flowers are welcome, the family has requested donations be made to the Dementia Society of America (dementiasociety.org) or RVNA health (rvnahealth.org) as an expression of sympathy.
