Robert Aponte December 30, 1947 – August 18, 2020 New Windsor, NY Robert Aponte passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He was 72 years old. Son of the late Juan and Carmen Santos Aponte, he was born on December 30, 1947 in Bronx, NY. Corporal Robert Aponte proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. After his Honorable Discharge he became a Clerk for the United States Postal Service in Bronx, NY. Survivors include his loving Wife Alma Martinez Aponte, his sons: Michael Aponte of Newburgh, NY; and Christopher Aponte and his wife Anita, of High Bridge, NJ; his brother Ruben Aponte of Oldsmar, FL; nephew Ruben Aponte Jr, and by his four grandchildren: Destini Jade, Christian, Ariella and Ayden. Robert sometimes brought home flowers, but never thought it right for funerals especially his.Thank you from the bottom of all our hearts. Those who serve our country deserve more. A Chapel Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday August 24, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Marine Corp Interment will follow at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen, NY. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be limited occupancy and we ask you to please adhere to the state regulations regarding face masks and distancing.
