Obituary of William J. Steinburg, Jr.

William J. Steinburg, Jr. August 8, 1943 – September 7, 2020 Monroe, NY William "Bill" J. Steinburg, Jr., of Monroe, NY passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020, at Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill, NY. He was 77 years old. Son of the late Regina M. Weaver and William J. Steinburg, Sr., he was born on August 8, 1943 in Oswego, NY. Bill loved sports. He was a multi-sport athlete in Oswego, NY where he once struck out 17 batters in a 7-inning game, as well as logging several no-hitters. Bill was a lifelong Syracuse Orange fan. He coached youth baseball and soccer, and had a love/hate relationship with golf. Bill joined the United States Army in 1962 and served during the Vietnam War era. Bill was a self-employed insurance salesman in Richmond, VA. He was a member of the Church of the Epiphany in Midlothian, VA, where he also sang in the choir. Bill is survived by a large and loving extended family which includes his children: William J. Steinburg, III and his wife Judy of Los Angeles, CA; Charles R. Steinburg and his fiancée Kathryn Schmidt of Los Angeles, CA; Christine R. O'Neill and her husband Larry of Monroe, NY; Caroline V. Besancon of Redding, CT; Elizabeth E. Steinburg and her fiancée Anthony Akers of Midlothian, VA.; and Anne N. Steinburg of Midlothian, VA.. He is also survived by three brothers, Robert C. Steinburg of Edenton, NC; John E. Steinburg of Syracuse, NY; and Lawrence A. Steinburg of Oswego, NY. Bill leaves behind eight grandchildren: Billy, Katie, Korinne, and Christy Fox; Olivia, Molly, and Cameron Besancon; and Lily Anne Steinburg; along with one great-grandchild, William J. Fox, III; and two nephews: Robert, and Greg Steinburg. Bill was also preceded in death by his first wife Marian F. Kelleher, and is survived by his second wife Kathleen E. Steinburg. Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Smith, Seaman, and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for William at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, NY 10950. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.
