Rose Melchiorre passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Sapphire Nursing and Rehabilitation at Goshen. She was 90 years old.
Daughter of the late Mario Vargetto and Anna Guica Vargetto, Rose was born on January 12, 1930 in New York, New York. She was the widow of Roosevelt "Russ" Melchiorre. Rose was a member of Catholic Daughters of America – Court Margaret Mary #768, St. Anastasia Church in Harriman, Young at Heart, Monroe Jolly Senior Citizens and the Monroe Senior Center.
Survivors include her sons, Alessio Alex Melchiorre & his wife Jeanne of Harriman and Mario Melchiorre & his wife Stephanie of Hawley, Pennsylvania; daughter, Lorraine Melchiorre-Thuman & her husband John of Monroe; brother, Sal Vargetto of Monroe; sister, Josephine Vargetto of Middletown, New Jersey; nine grandchildren: Alex, Marisa, Mark, Mario II, Brianna, Dia, Jordan, Carlie Ann & Danielle (Bella); six great-grandchildren: Gianna, Mya, Alessia, Teigan, Olivia & Damon; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Russ, Rose was predeceased by her sisters Sarah Roca, Ida Salerno, and Angelina Colasacco; and by her brother Sonny Vargetto.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 9-11 A.M. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 A.M. at St. Anastasia Parish Church, 110 Route 17M, Harriman. Interment will follow at St. Anastasia Cemetery in Harriman.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be limited occupancy and we ask you to please adhere to the state regulations regarding face masks and distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, Memorial Sloan Kettering, or the Foundation for Women's Cancer.
