Lorenzo Johnson, Sr. March 31, 1936 – April 1, 2021 Chester, NY. Lorenzo Johnson, Sr., passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his residence in Chester, NY. He was 85 years old. Son of the Late Chester and Cecilia Garofalo Johnson, he was born on March 31, 1936 in New York, NY. Lorenzo proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1957 during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Lorenzo became a Police Officer for New York City's Finest, ending his career with the NYPD at the 25th Precinct in Harlem, NY. He was a devoted member of St. Columba Church in Chester, NY, and a member of the American Legion Post #488 of Monroe, NY. Survivors include his children: Darryl Johnson (Allen Lane) of Pensacola, FL; Lorenzo Johnson, Jr., of Chester, NY; and Margaret Minchin (Dennis) of Monroe, NY; and his grandchildren: Kayla, Caitlyn, Andrew, and Brianna. In addition to his parents, Lorenzo was also predeceased by his loving wife Ruth Johnson and his brother Chester Johnson, Jr. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Smith, Seaman, and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at St. Columba Church, 27 High St., Chester, NY. Interment will follow at St. Columba Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct. Newburgh, NY.
