Obituary of Peter Dnistrian

Peter Dnistrian October 22, 1948 – August 16, 2021 Monroe, New York It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Peter Dnistrian at his home in Monroe, NY, on August 16, 2021. Pete died peacefully from a short battle with cancer, with his beloved wife by his side. Pete loved to travel and pursue adventures with family and friends, particularly his best friend and brother-in-law, Frank Young. He enjoyed hiking, playing golf with Tuesday golf buddies and family, and talking to anyone and everyone. He cheered for the Giants and Yankees (but only when they were winning). More than anything else, Pete loved his family. He was married for 51 years to his childhood sweetheart, Rhonda Lohr Dnistrian, and his greatest honor was being called Dad by his children, and Pop Pop by his five grandchildren. Pete was the eldest of four siblings and predeceased by his mother and father, Brigitta Missof Dnistrian and Peter Dnistrian, as well as his brother, Thomas Dnistrian. Pete is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Barrie Dnistrian of Upper Montclair, NJ, and their children: Noah, Avery and Wyatt, and his daughter and son-in-law Amanda and William Vacca of Monroe, NY, and their children: Carly and Jackson. He is also survived by his brother, Philip Dnistrian, of Hortonville, NY, and his family; his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Tracy Principio of Nashua, NH; his mother-in-law, Ann Marie Lohr, of Crystal River, FL; and his in-laws, Debbie and Frank Young, and Chris and Randy Lohr, and their families. His many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family will greatly miss him as well. Pete graduated from Xavier High School in Manhattan and the New York Institute of Technology. He retired as a Sergeant from the New York City Police Department, and in retirement, supported his wife's business, Arc Realty. He loved helping and spending time with all of his family and friends at Arc. A special thank you to his oncologist, Dr. Robert Dinsmore, a fellow Xavier classmate, for his compassion and dedication. A private memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate Pete's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Delaware Youth Center, Inc., 8 Creamery Road, P.O. Box 354, Callicoon, NY 12723. Pete loved the town of Callicoon and enjoyed being with family on the porch of his vacation home on the Delaware River.
